Wow! what a great presentation. The facts Maam, the facts, Served with a great deal of humour and some very detailed graphics.
With an overall view of the history of portage ( started with the Romans, probably before) and various canal systems and small craft mooring and storage systems, very relevant to Mandurah, we were well informed and tantalised by the new engineering of the Falkirk Wheel and the revamped Kennet and Avon Canals in Britain. It was enjoyable that our three prominent Scots; Jock, Ena and Sheila had visited the Falkirk Wheel with their various stories to tell. The best coming from Jock, ‘ that it rained so heavily that when he got close to the wheel he nearly drowned in the rum off’. As he said it could only happen in Scotland.
